Former Gor Mahia defender Rooney Onyango has been provisionally suspended by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) over whereabouts failures as of February 12, 2026.

In a statement published on Friday on ADAK’s website, the Harambee Stars player, who currently plays for Norwegian second-tier side Sogndal, is said to have failed to submit his whereabouts information by the required deadline; a filing failure.

“Rooney Onyango was provisionally suspended on February 12, 2026, for a whereabouts failure,” a statement retrieved by Radio Generation from ADAK’s website read.

Acting Director of Standards and Compliance at ADAK, Dr. Martin Yauma, has warned that any Kenyan athlete competing anywhere in the world remains under ADAK’s jurisdiction.

Yauma added that any combination of three whereabouts failures, including filing failures and/or missed tests, within a 12-month period constitutes an anti-doping rule violation.

The applicable sanction is a two-year period of ineligibility, which may be reduced to a minimum of one year depending on the athlete’s degree of fault.
